You Are Allowed to Reinvent Yourself

Identity is simply the story you tell yourself about who you are. Your past may explain you, but it does not define you, and you are allowed to grow, heal, and change.

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to believe in a better life for other people? But when it comes to your own life, that inner critic whispers: "Yeah... but not me."

Not after the mistakes, heartbreaks, losses, & failures.

Not after all the times you started and stopped.

Not after everything you've been through or where you came from.

Let's get clear on what identity really is and where it comes from.

Identity is simply the story you tell yourself about who you are and what you're capable of, what’s possible for you.

It's shaped by your experiences, your environment, your confidence, your successes, your failures, and the things you've repeatedly told yourself over time.

Once you decide who you believe you are, you start saying things like:

"This is just who I am."

"I'm just not disciplined."

"I'm too far behind."

"People like me don't change."

"I'm not worthy of this."

But here's what I've learned, because I've run these tracks in my own head and still catch myself having to rewrite the story I tell myself.

It's human nature and thankfully... It's figureoutable.

Your past may explain you but it does not define you.

And it's up to you to change the story you tell yourself about if it’s what is holding you back from living your best possible life.

One of the hardest but most important parts of growth is learning to let go.

To let go of old mistakes, labels, shame, stories ... .to let go of old versions of yourself that no longer align with who you're becoming, where you are headed.

Because you cannot create a different future while constantly rehearsing your past.

At some point, if you truly want a different life, you have to stop living in your old wounds, old habits, old stories, and sometimes environments.

That doesn't mean pretending your past didn't happen. It means deciding it no longer gets the final say over your future.

Looking back, every mistake, every setback, every season, every tragedy became part of the reason I can help someone else today. The very things I once wanted to hide became part of my purpose.

I've learned to reframe the experiences in my life not as evidence of what's wrong with me, but as preparation for what I'm called to do.

That's how I can stand in front of people and share all my mistakes. Vulnerability is freedom, ownership of your stories is freedom.

When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

It goes right back to the power of perspective. One of the most powerful things you can do is give yourself permission to evolve. Give yourself permission to become the best version of yourself. Give yourself permission to outgrow old environments, old habits, and old mindsets.

You are allowed to reinvent yourself.

You are allowed to heal.

You are allowed to grow.

You are allowed to change your mind.

You are allowed to want more.

You are allowed to build a life that feels authentic to you and aligned with the vision you have for your future.

Maybe the life you're looking for isn't on the other side of doing more….maybe it's on the other side of letting go of who you've convinced yourself you are.

Your future is waiting.

Don't let an old identity keep you from becoming the person you're meant to be.

Ask yourself:

  • What would be possible in my life if I stopped believing the story that's been holding me back?
  • What story or bad habit do I need to stop repeating?
  • What would I do differently if I truly believed my past did not define my future and anything was possible?

Step into your power, become someone you're proud of, because you deserve that life.

And yes…..you can create it.
